Alumni
Dili International School Graduates, whether they studied with us for a long time or a short time, are all around the world in further studies or employment. This includes many of our Timorese graduates who have used their Australian graduating certificates (VCE/ATAR) to continue their studies overseas. We are proud to say we've had DIS students in over 7 Australian universities and studying around the world in Portugal, Canada, Malaysia, United Kingdom, United States of America, New Zealand, China, Indonesia, and more!
Natalicia Lobato, Audina Hadijuwono , and Clemencia 'Wain' Hanjam
These are our 2024 Charles Darwin University scholarship recipients. Natalicia, Audina, and Clemencia are embarking on their Bachelor's degrees in health science, biomedical science, and accounting respectively.
Kainoa Fernandes
Our 2023 DUX, Kainoa, has started his studies at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). He is completing a Bachelors of Engineering.
Jetho Belo
Jetho is now studying at RMIT (Melbourne, Australia). He has begun his Diploma of Building and Construction as a pathway into a Bachelor’s of Project Management.
Jason Lay, Kay-No Costa, and Micia Gusmao
These three graduates are all studying at Charles Darwin University under our scholarship agreement. Jason (2020 DUX) and Micia (2022 graduate) are both studying a Bachelor of Computer Science. Kay-No (2020 graduate) is studying a Bachelor of Engineering.
Gabriella Bahen Robertson Marcal
Gaby was the 2021 DUX of Dili International School and has since been awarded a prestigious scholarship to study a business degree at the University of Victoria, Canada. As a Timorese national, Gaby does hope to return home one day and work in the social enterprise sector, recognising the important role businesses can play in supporting the community and development of Timor-Leste.
Leogenio Vieira Aniceto
Leo graduated from DIS in 2021 and immediately went into the world of business, establishing his own travel agency firm in Dili. He works as the Director of his travel agency "LVA Akung Travel Agency" and has won multiple business and government contracts. Leo has big plans to grow his company into other sectors that will assist tourism and trade in Timor-Leste.
Tedi Shulla and Emilia Bowes
Dili International School Graduates from 2021, both Tedi and Emilia, are currently studying Psychology Degrees in Leeds, England. Tedi joined Dili International School in 2020 whereas Emilia did the majority of her schooling with us. Both students scored remarkably well in their VCE exams and are now enjoying their studies preparing for what they hope to be long careers in their chosen field
Ye Long (Jessica) Gao
Ye Long graduated from DIS in 2021 and moved to Malaysia for her tertirary education. Ye Long is completing a Bachelor of Education (majoring in educational psychology) at Taylor's University, Malaysia. Ye Long will graduate from her degree this year and hopes to pursue further studies somewhere else in the world.
Sabina Garana
Sabina joined DIS in 2013 and graduated in 2021. After so many happy years living in Timor-Leste it has been an exciting experience for Sabina to return to the Philippines to continue her studies. Sabina is currently studying a Bachelor of Computer Engineering at Mapua University. Mapua is one of the Philippines leading universities in IT degrees.
Fitun Vitor
Fitun graduated from DIS in 2020 and is now studying in Melbourne, Australia. Fitun first received his diploma of business before continuing in a Bachelor of Business (Marketing Major). Fitun attends Swinburne University of Technology, one of Australia's leading universities.
Emilio Ingham-Freitas
Emilio graduated from DIS in 2020. In 2022 he joined the Australian Defence Forces (Army) and completed his initial trainings with them to become a professional soldier. Emilio says " I currently work unrestricted service, and the job itself is extremely versatile and productive, as I do something different every day and can work in the 'bush' environment for weeks at a time without being home. DIS provided me with the backbone required to further develop the skills that I use in my job role on a day-to-day basis."
Vitoria Eduardo Belo Soares
Vitoria graduated from DIS in 2019 then took a gap year. Following this break from her studies, she was awarded a part-scholarship from Monash University to complete her Bachelor of Accounting. Vitoria will graduate at the end of 2024. Whilst studying full-time, Vitoria also volunteers with "St Kilda Mums"; an organisation that aims to reduce child-clothing waste through donating used clothing to less fortunate families. The organisation operates a circular economy model of "rehoming essentials to give kids the best start in life".
Yuyutsu Sharma
Yuyutsu graduated from DIS in 2018 and moved to Australia. He graduated with Honours from the University of Tasmania with a Bachelor of Medical Research. He is currently residing in his home country, Nepal, and working remotely as a Research Assistant with the University of Tasmania.
Alem Uriyo
Alem graduated from DIS in 2018. Alem then completed his Bachelor of Business (Financial Risk Management / International Trade) at Victoria University, Australia. Since graduating in 2023 and after many years abroad, Alem has returned to his home-country of Tanzania where he is now working as a Management Trainee for the Diamond Trust Bank.
Vanessa Corbafo da Costa
Vanessa C. da Costa graduated from DIS in 2014. Soon after, she applied and won the prestigious Australia Awards Scholarship to study Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of South Australia. She completed her studies in 2020 with Second-class honours, upper-division (2.1)! Upon returning to Timor-Leste, Vanessa joined in a graduate internship programme in the National Directorate of Urbanism at the Ministry of Public Works in Díli.
Khadija Fatima
Khadija completed her VCE studies at DIS in 2014. Upon completion of her High School studies, she applied and was offered a place to study Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Sydney. After completed her undergraduate studies, Khadija proceeded to enroll in Master of Civil Engineering at the same institute where she officially completed it in 2020. During her studies at the University of Sydney, she actively participated in student clubs and internships. Khadija says: "my Masters of Civil Engineering! Been a tough ride but can't thank my family and friends for being my strength!"
Natalia Reali
Natalia Reali arrived at DIS in 2004, at the age of seven, and was a part of one of the first graduating classes in 2014. Once she graduated from Grade 12, Natalia moved to Melbourne to complete a Diploma of Arts at Monash University. Upon completing one year of her Diploma, she was offered a spot to do a Bachelor’s Degree, double majoring in Psychology and Criminology, which she graduated from in 2017.
After graduating, Natalia was accepted into Melbourne University to complete a Master’s degree in Human Resources and graduated in 2020. She is based in Díli and currently working for Infocentric, Australia’s largest Digital and Data Analytics company as a Human Resource and Recruitment Officer.
Liam Soares
Liam graduated from Dili International School in 2014. Since graduating he has completed his Bachelor of Business (Swinburne University) and his Masters of Business (Marketing) (Monash University). Liam continues to reside in Melbourne, Australia and is working as a Marketing Executive for L'Oreal Australia & New Zealand.
Leonora Lobato Lopes
Dili International School graduate from the class of 2015, Leonora Lobato Lopes, graduated with a Bachelor of Business (Majoring in Financial Management) from James Cook University Singapore in 2020. Leonora wants to learn to work with people from different countries and different cultures. She loves studying at James Cook University because of its very welcoming environment with its friendly and supportive teachers and staff. She has also found the University has great learning support such as peer tutoring sessions and individual face-to-face consultations.
